Sri Lanka Upset Mauritius Co-Sponsored Human Rights Resolution Over Tamil Tigers War

Sri Lanka is upset with Mauritius over rights resolution the country has co-sponsored. Mauritius is ready to join a trilateral maritime security group that also includes India and the Maldives and is co-sponsoring a UN resolution alleging human rights abuses during the war against the Tamil Tigers, reports Business Standard.

“Sri Lanka expressed concern that Mauritius had co-sponsored the resolution” at the UN Human Rights Council, National Security Advisor Shivshankar Menon said.

“Sri Lanka mentioned that we need to build trust (among neighbours),” Menon said.
