Corey Modeste Talks Global Value Chains, Debt Restructuring in Africa [Part 2 of 3]

An investment analyst and director at Greylock Capital Management, Corey Modeste recently sat in on an interview with AFKInsider which analyzed sovereign credit, emerging markets and investment trends in Sub-Saharan Africa. In part two of the interview, Modeste touches on corporate borrowing stemming from sovereign debt restructuring, analyzing global value chains and researching local finance institutions before investing.

“I think the interesting thing about some of the investments we’ve seen in Africa is that the regulatory framework can actually hold up well, ” Modeste said.

“That’s not always going to be the case, but we’ve had certain private sector investments where we’ve had to do things like go to court or get judgments enforced [and] have legal action taken that in the long run was going to help that deal.”
