Cape Verde was on the list of Portuguese travel agency Solférias’ hottest-selling tourist packages for the New Year’s holiday, with more than 800 reservations made.

Cape Verde continues to be Solférias’ main tourist destination, with more than 800 packages sold so far for the New Year’s holiday. The agency’s chartered flight last Thursday between Lisbon and Boa Vista had been sold out since October.

The Portuguese island of Madeira, which rings in the new year with the world-famous fireworks display, was this year’s “biggest surprise,” with more than 400 packages sold, nearly triple last year’s figures.
