ITC Global To Launch Connectivity In Remote African Areas

ITC Global, which hosts satellite coverage and has a presence in more than 20 African countries, plans to launch a high-performance network connecting remote African areas, according to a report in HumanIPO.com.

The Spidersat Communications network is expected to improve ITC Global’s African operations by bridging the gap of multi-megabit satellite connectivity to support unified communications, the report said.

In its final stages, the project is expected to provide new satellite modem technology with an approximate speed of 60-100 megabits per second. That’s unprecedented fiber-like speeds, according to a report in TechnologyBanker.

ITC Global, which is headquartered in St. Petersburg, Fla., has established businesses in Tanzania, Ghana, Nigeria and Angola.

It claims to provide voice and data wide-area networking services to some of the largest corporations and organizations in the world spanning industries that include mining, maritime, energy, and non governmental.

Working with partners Intelsat and iDirect, the company is using the latest Evolution satellite modem by iDirect. Evolution is ideally suited for broadband requirements such as Internet and VPN access, according to its website.

Intelsat’s collaboration with ITC Global involves sharing 25 spacecraft satellites and connectivity through the IntelsatOne terrestrial network, leveraging African infrastructure, the report said.
