U.S. Company Sells Sensing Technology In Nigeria For Tankers, Student Security

Nigeria-based Halogen Security, one of the largest private security companies in Nigeria and West Africa, has ordered 400 oil tanker monitoring devices from U.S.-based East Coast Diversified Corp., according to a Marketwired report at SecurityITBusiness.

As a part of the agreement, Halogen will expand its security services into areas where the need exists for radio frequency identification (RFID), GPS and other sensing technologies. The technology will be provided by EarthSearch Communications, Inc., a subsidiary of East Coast Diversified.

This is one of several phases in deploying technology to the Oando fleet of oil tankers. Oando is one of Africa’s largest integrated energy solutions providers, and a pioneer in fields of private sector pipeline network construction and distribution of natural gas to industrial and commercial consumers, the report said.

In addition, Halogen Security will offer products and services from StudentConnect Inc., a sister company of EarthSearch that offers student bus safety technology and class attendance monitoring using wireless communication between GPS and RFID.
