New York Stock Exchange-Listed Consultancy Firm Launches Innovation Studio In Johannesburg

Global management consulting and professional services firm Accenture has opened a new innovation studio in South Africa, selecting Johannesburg as the venue that will see disruptive technologies used for the benefit of businesses.

Called Liquid Studios, the consultancy firm believes that providing a way in which clients are able to access and experiment with disruptive technologies will allow them to prototype and produce software for new and expanding markets, according to ITWeb.

Listed on the New York Stock Exchange, Accenture is able to accelerate innovation by applying rapid development approaches, reducing application and solution development time from months to days.

Situated in the Johannesburg suburb of Woodmead, the South African innovation studio will collaborate with Accenture Liquid Studios in Sydney, Singapore, Silicon Valley, Paris, Milan, London, Kronberg and other locations around the world, according to TheStreet.

The studio will make disruptive technologies, such as mixed reality, artificial intelligence, blockchain and cloud architectures, available for clients to experiment with.

It will also work with Accenture Labs, where the company incubates and prototypes new concepts through applied research and development projects.

Innovation studio to boost South Africa

Named by Forbes magazine as the world’s most admired information technology services company in 2016, Accenture considers the Joburg studio the first step in a comprehensive investment into South African innovation, says Rory Moore, innovation lead for Accenture SA.

“Business cycle times are shrinking and competitive barriers are disappearing, making speed to market critical in the digital world. The Liquid Studio will help deliver innovative solutions to businesses with speed and agility,” said Moore, according to TechnoAfrica.

“The next wave of South African growth and competitiveness will come from continuous innovation, and I am proud that we are working closely with our clients to fuel innovation and solve critical business problems at speed and scale,” he added.

The new Accenture initiatives in South Africa will include additional investment in training, hiring and strategic relationships on a local level in order to promote innovation in the country.
