Schalke Make Nabil Bentaleb Loan Deal From Tottenham Permanent

German Bundesliga club Schalke have moved to make a loan deal for Algerian international Nabil Bentaleb permanent, with the talented youngster set to complete the switch from Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League.

The 21-year-old had been a regular for the north London club for two years since the end of 2013, making 66 appearances for Spurs over the course of three seasons, but only five of those came in 2015-16, prompting him to look elsewhere for playing time.

Leaving White Hart Lane proved to be a good move for the French-born Algerian, and he has impressed since arriving in Germany.

The midfielder’s season-long loan was agreed for a fee of approximately $1 million, with the deal including an option allowing the German club to make the move permanent at the end of the campaign, which the club have decided to take up.

His deal is for an undisclosed fee, and sees his contract run until 2021.

Confirmed: Nabil Bentaleb is a Schalke player

Tottenham confirmed the permanent deal in a statement on their Twitter account: “We have reached agreement with FC Schalke 04 for the permanent transfer of Nabil Bentaleb this summer. We wish Nabil all the best for the future.”

The player is thrilled with the move becoming permanent, confirming via the Schalke website that he is pleased to be a player for the Bundesliga club.

“When I came to Schalke in the summer, my aim was to play as much as possible and persuade the club to make the transfer permanent,” Bentaleb said on Schalke’s website.

“Things have worked out brilliantly and I am thrilled. It is great to have the feeling that you are trusted by the club: the coaching staff, my team-mates, the higher-ups and everyone here have made it really easy to feel at home at S04. I am very happy to be a part of this team,” he concluded.
