In 2016, South Africa was the top country in the world for greatest proportion of consumers watching porn on mobile devices, according to data from Pornhub, the world’s largest porn portal.

For the first time, South Africa made the list of top 20 countries for porn-watching traffic on Pornhub, News24 reported.

That means South Africa is ahead of the rest of the continent, climbing four places in 2016 and contributing to 90 billion-plus video views of Pornhub around the world.

The jump can be attributed to an increase in Internet access and porn-viewing by black people, according to News24.

Pornhub reported global traffic of 61 percent on mobile devices, 28 percent on personal computer and 11 percent on tablet, MemeBurn reported. South Africa’s mobile usage for porn was much higher at 73 percent, with 16 percent on PC and 11 percent on tablet. The U.S., India and Philippines were close behind South Africa with 70 percent mobile traffic.

South Africans also made big gains on the amount of time per visit when watching porn, climbing 11 positions to No. 2 on the list (10 minutes, 46 seconds). The Philippines was No. 1 with an average time per visit of 12 minutes and 45 seconds.

Top 10 countries for the most porn traffic include U.S., U.K., Canada, India, Japan, France, Germany, Australia, Italy and Brazil.

The most popular time for porn viewing is between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m.

Pornhub said that users watched almost 4.6 billion hours of porn — or 524,641 years worth — in 2016.
