Arsenal’s Mohamed Elneny Confident In His Ability

Arsenal’s Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Elneny has revealed the confidence he has in his ability to adapt to the English Premier League, and his new London club.

Having joined the North Londoners from Swiss club Basel in January, he made his debut at the end of that month, and has gone on to claim a regular spot within the Gunners lineup, representing the club on 12 occasions thus far, scoring a goal against Barcelona.

His goal against the Spanish club in UEFA Champions League action made him only the fifth African player to score against Barcelona, and the third Egypt international to score in the Champions League.

The 23-year-old has shown great composure and maturity in his new role within the Arsenal midfield, and has spoken about his ease at adapting to life at the Emirates alongside his new team-mates.

“I was [able to settle] because God helped give me the strength to adapt to my situation. I know it is not easy but God gave me the strength to adapt quickly,” Elneny explained, according to the Arsenal website.

“Some said I would find it hard to adapt to the physicality of the Premier League but I thought otherwise. I even told my agent to give me three weeks to show him how well I could adapt. I know I can adapt to all kinds of people and every league I play in,” the Egyptian international added.

The EPL Is Best For Mohamed Elneny

The midfielder went on to praise the EPL for its unpredictable nature, saying that it was a superior league to the other championships he has been involved in.

“The Premier League is the best and strongest league in the world because there are so many surprising results. It is difficult to compare it to the Swiss and Egyptian leagues because everyone knows that the Premier League is the best,” he said.

“It is amazing. Everything is wonderful, from the fans to the style of play. I enjoy playing for Arsenal so much. It’s a different kind of football, it’s faster and first class,” Elneny added.

The midfielder’s next outing with the Gunners will likely take place on Thursday night, when they host West Brom in EPL action at the Emirates Stadium.
