8 Well-Represented African Nations In The English Premier League

The English Premier League is the most popular European soccer league, with a huge fanbase within Africa. This popularity has made the EPL a great attraction to top players throughout Africa, and as a result, there are many African players who ply their trade in the English top flight.

With this in mind, we decided to take a look at eight well-represented African countries with regards to players in the English Premier League.

Nigeria

A total of seven Nigerian players make their money as professional soccer players in the English Premier League. Chelsea’s John Obi Mikel is a veteran amongst the selection, with the likes of Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi and Watford’s Odion Ighalo ensuring that Nigeria’s crop of EPL talent remains strong, as it traditionally has done.

Senegalese players are valued as talented and hard working players, hence the number that call the EPL home. Perhaps the most successful at the moment is Southampton midfielder Sadio Mane, who has done well since joining the club from Red Bull Salzburg in 2014.

While Manchester United’s Axel Tuanzebe is not a well known player, the Congolese also boast the likes of striker Dieumerci Mbokani of Norwich City and Crystal Palace midfielder Yannick Bolasie.
