Gervinho May Depart Roma For Chinese Club Jiangsu Suning

Ivorian attacking talent Gervinho may leave his Italian Serie A club Roma during the current transfer window for a move to Chinese Super League club Jiangsu Suning.

The Cote D’Ivoire national team star seems to be unsettled at the club in recent times, with a proposed move from the capital club to Al Jazira in the Arabian Gulf League scuppered late in what seemed an inevitable transfer at the end of last season.

Now, following the sacking of coach Rudi Garcia from the Giallorossi, ESPN report that Gervinho could now be ready to call time on his Roman adventure for a switch to China, as he was close to the tactician and is upset that he is no longer at the club.

Italian daily sports newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Gervinho’s move to Chinese club Jiangsu Suning is almost complete, with the last considerations of the deal needing to be finalised.

The Ivorian has been an important player for the Romans since joining from Arsenal in 2013, scoring goals and contributing assists in attack. His performances have endeared him to the fans in Rome, while his excellent footballing attributes are the reason that the Chinese club are after his signature.

Reports suggest that a meeting was held between Jiangsu and the club from Italy’s capital with regards to a proposed $13 million deal which would see the Ivorian move with immediate effect.

If Gervinho’s move to China goes ahead, it will allow for a proposed transfer of Genoa’s Diego Perotti to the Stadio Olimpico as a replacement for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) winner.
