Nigerian Odion Ighalo On Atletico Madrid Radar

On form Nigerian international striker Odion Ighalo is the subject of transfer speculation from Spanish outfit Atletico Madrid, who are interested in the services of Watford’s West African attacking talent.

The striker has been in scintillating form this season, scoring 14 goals thus far in the English Premier League for Watford, added to the 20 he scored last campaign to help his side secure promotion to the EPL.

Reports in Spain are suggesting that the Madrid outfit is keen to strengthen their squad in attack, with Ighalo thought to be a good replacement for a disappointing Jackson Martinez, who has not found the form required since joining from Porto.

Having played in Spain previously with Granada, Ighalo is considered a target worthy of pursuit by the club from the Spanish capital, and reports suggest that scouts from Atletico have paid numerous visits to Vicarage Road to monitor the progress and form of the Super Eagles player.

If they are to secure his signature during the current transfer window, they will have competition from other interested teams, which apparently include Serie A giants Roma.

It is not clear whether Watford would be willing to part with the striker at this stage, however, as coach Quique Sanchez Flores is hoping to keep the momentum going by keeping his squad settled and holding on to stars such as Ighalo, at least until the end of the current season.
