Cameroon Deploys 3G And 4G LTE Technology In Same year

From BiztechAfrica.

MTN Cameroon announced that it is the first network in Cameroon to launch next generation 4G long term evolution (LTE) technology.

MTN Cameroon’s 4G network covers the towns of Yaoundé, Douala, Bamenda and Buea, and will be extended to other parts of the country.

MTN launched its 3G network after renewing its license in Cameroon in March 2015. Over the last eight months, MTN Cameroon has invested close to 60 billion FCFA ($100.19 million US) to develop a 4G LTE network that meets international standards.

Cameroon has become one of the few countries in the world to deploy 3G and 4G LTE technologies within the same year, MTN says. This technological evolution is expected to contribute to the competitiveness of Cameroonian enterprises and promote job creation.

“By launching the next generation 4G LTE technology, we are not only investing in a network. We are also … investing in the Cameroonian people,” said Mrs. Philisiwe Sibiya, CEO of MTN Cameroon.
