Pangolins are truly unique, and resemble an armor-plated lizard crossed with an anteater and an armadillo. Like many other species in Africa, they are endangered because humans hunt them for bushmeat and because their scales are used in traditional Chinese medicine. Fortunately, their decline in numbers is being met with a new awareness and appreciation of the species.
