Doumbia Returns To CSKA Moscow On Loan

Cote D’Ivoire international Seydou Doumbia has completed a deal that will see him return to former Russian club CSKA Moscow on loan from Serie A side Roma.

The Ivorian struggled to cement his place with the Giallorossi, scoring only two goals in 13 appearances for the club from the Italian capital, and a move back to familiar pastures in Russia will likely help the striker to find his form.

The 27-year-old striker previously represented CSKA for almost five years following his move to Russia in 2010 from Swiss club Young Boys.

In a statement announcing the deal on their website, Roma revealed that the player would be on loan in the Russian capital until January 2016, at which point they will likely consider their options based on their needs and his form.

“A.S. Roma S.p.A. announces that it has reached an agreement with PFK CSKA Moscow over a loan deal for Seydou Doumbia. Doumbia will join the Russian club until January 4, 2016,” the statement revealed.

Doumbia won the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) as a member of the Cote D’Ivoire team that emerged victorious in Equatorial Guinea earlier in the year after a tense penalty shootout victory over Ghana in the final.

Having represented his country since 2008, the striker has scored 4 goals in 29 appearances for the Elephants.
