Report: Tourism In Tanzania Breaks Million-Visitor Mark

Visitors to Tanzania, dominated by tourists seeking photography and nature safaris, topped a record one million in 2012, according to the Tanzanian Daily News online.

This represented a 24 percent increase in visitors over 2011.

Visits to Africa by three consecutive U.S. presidents presented a symbolic picture of a continent where U.S. citizens could visit and invest, the report says.

Tanzanian tourism revenue increased from $100 million in 1993 to $1.3 billion in 2013. The number of visitors increased over the same period from 230,000 to a record one million.
